I really wish I would have started this last week, but I didn't. I completely went off my diet and had the biggest 4 day binge of my life. I had been on keto for over 6 weeks when I completely caved. I used every rationalization I could come up with to get off the diet. I finally convinced myself I should take a break, and I came home to eat cookies, apples, and cereal. Then I just kept eating carbs for another 3 days straight. Now that it is all over and I'm back to reality the guilt is a bit hard to take. I gained 10 pounds over the weekend. Obviously some of this is water weight, but a lot of it isn't. I actually weigh more now than when I started keto 6 weeks ago. The hardest part of the aftermath is that my brother's wedding is in less than 4 weeks. I was almost at my goal weight of 110 pounds, and now it seems impossible to get there. My diet did have an impact on how I think about food. I was becoming obsessed with the scale, and something did need to change. My weekend binge will hopefully prove to be a catalyst in healing and eating healthy.
I weighed myself this morning at 125.6 pounds. A keto strip said I was not in ketosis. One week ago I weighed 115.8. Hopefully I can get back there before the wedding. My dress does still fit. It's a four, and that is the most important thing for the wedding. I just need the dress to fit. I'm looking into getting some spanx or a girdle. We'll see where I'm at May 1st.
Instead of continuing on the downward spiral, I'm going to get back on track. I need to reset, and that is part of the reason for this blog. I need to be accountable and excited about eating. I made a lot of great recipes over the last 6 weeks. I will definitely be making my favorites again. I made some things that don't need to be repeated though.
One of the greatest things I bought for this diet was a food spiralizer. I really love it, and I plan on using it at least once a week. Zoodles are incredible! I had them last night. I'll make them for the blog soon. I'm going to document everything I eat until the wedding, starting today. That means from now until May 14th I will be posting pictures and recipes for everything! Here we go!
